2012 Ivy League Memories

Here, at ILDC, we have been preparing for an exciting 2013 Big League Fun summer for quite some time!  Our planning for this upcoming season starts with reflecting on the past.

The 2012 summer at ILDC brought about many memorable moments for us, as well as our campers.  One of the highlights of Camp 2012 was our new mascot “Buddy the Bulldog”.  The children really enjoyed seeing Buddy as he took part in Color War, Tribal Day, Water Fun Day, Carnival and Banner Day. He was always around to support each team by giving them a high five or a hug.  The children especially liked seeing him on our new Euro Bungy!!  Some of our future plans include a new Gymnastics Pavilion with updated equipment - - perfect for Buddy to practice his cartwheels!!

Our Teen campers actively participated in many aspects of Camp.  From day trips to overnights to leadership training - - these oldest campers really had a taste of what our camp has to offer!  One of the most exciting things to come for 2013 is our Road Scholars Teen Tours.  We have been busy booking travel plans for trips as far away as Montreal, Canada!

During the school year, we like to keep our Camp memories strong by welcoming you to our special events at Camp.  Our Fall Fest in October was a blast!  The weather was beautiful and we were able to pick and decorate pumpkins, enjoy a hay ride, climb the rock wall, jump on the Euro Bungy, race the Go Carts and reacquaint with Camp friends.

In December, we viewed our 2012 DVD Yearbook Premiere on a movie size screen!  It was exciting to watch all of our camp families reminisce over the sports they played, the craft projects they made, the shows they performed, and the special events they participated in, such as Color War and Carnival.

As the days get colder and the Winter months approach, do what we always do - - THINK SUMMER!! We look forward to seeing you again at our annual Spring Fling!    Don’t forget to always look for our emails, and like us on Facebook so we can update you with all of our events and news during the year.

Best wishes for the Year 2013.  Thank you again for all of your support.

See you at camp!

19 Days Until Big League Fun 2012...Are You and Your Child Ready?

The countdown begins!! Only 19 more days until Big League Fun 2012!! Here at ILDC our Owners, Directors and Leadership Staff have been busy preparing all year long, but we know and understand that as your school year ends, your and your child's preparations are just beginning. Part of our job is to ease the transition of school to camp and prepare your child for a great camp experience!

According to an article published by the American Camp Association, Bruce Muchnick, EdD wrote, "A summer at camp is much more than a vacation for children.  At camp, kids enjoy the outdoors and develop a greater appreciation for the environment.  Campers experience the companionship of the other children and acquire skills that improve self-confidence, increase self reliance, enhance the ability to cooperate with others, and, hopefully, a greater awareness of life that is larger than one's self."

Think of camp as a learning experience.  Sending your children to camp offers a wonderful opportunity for both you and your children to practice "letting go" - which can contribute to the development of healthy independence.

Here at ILDC, we address our parent's and children's separation concerns with our Meet & Greet prior to camp. At these meetings all campers and parents are invited to come and meet their counselors and camp friends. At that time parents will drop their children off in respective areas, while they meet and bond with their counselors and peers, parents will have a chance to meet and speak with their child's Division Leaders. Our Meet & Greets for CAPS and Grads will be held on June 12th and Mini Day through Upper Division will be held on June 16th.

For many, we know that this may be your first camp experience.  With that in mind we will be hosting a First Time Parent Orientation this Thursday, June 7th from 7:00 - 8:00pm.  At this meeting parents will have the opportunity to meet with our Owners, Directors and Division Leaders and speak with them in a more intimate setting.  Our Division Leaders will go through a typical day at camp and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Camp makes it easy for kids to have fun, relax and experience the spontaneous joys of their childhood years.  Campers come to Ivy League for the fun!  We want campers to be the BEST THEY CAN BE in a safe and nurturing environment. Ivy League Day Camp has been accredited by The American Camp Association for over 40 years. At Ivy League Day Camp experienced and caring role models (counselors) are constantly encouraging campers and building their self-esteem through well rounded supervised activities.

We look forward to seeing you in just a few short days for another summer of BIG LEAGUE FUN!!!

Welcome to the Ivy League Blog

We are very excited to announce that Ivy League will now be blogging!  In an effort to always stay connected to our current and prospective Camp families we will frequently update our blog with new happenings at ILDC as well as general Camp information.  We believe in enriching children's lives through the camp experience.  Children learn best through their experiences at Camp while developing the emotional and social skills that complement their intellectual abilities.
While staying warm during these cold winter months and watching the snow pile up we will do our best to have you THINKING SUMMER all year round!!  Follow us...We have A LOT to say!!
